What is a Casement screen?
Casement windows are a popular window style in the USA, especially in tighter spaces and in locations with greater foot traffic. Distinguishable by the crank system that enables their effortless opening and closing, casements open outwards and are hinged on one side. Designed to enable the full functionality of your unique casement window, our fully customizable replacement casement screens include vertical (traditional casement screen) and horizontal (awning screen) selections.

How do Casement screens work?
Casement window screens are designed to fit over your open casement window, allowing fresh air to come in while keeping bugs and other pests out. Installed on the inside of your window frame, the casement window screen creates and maintains an uncompromising seal while still allowing for the use of your casement window's crank system. Casements traditionally open outward (away from the house) and can guide breezes through your home more efficiently than other window styles. When closing inward, the casement seals firmly in your window frame. The highly engineered casement screens provide a seamless portfolio when closed yet are undeniably robust to provide best-in-class protection against the outdoors. In fact, RiteScreen’s casement screen frames are thicker than most other window screen styles. Yet thanks to the equipped flange, this window screen maintains the sleek, discrete aesthetic of your unique casement window frames!

Why use a Casement screen?
Casement window screens are often preferred for their sleek design and ease of opening, especially in crowded kitchens, bathrooms, sunrooms, and stairwells. Casements offer unique advantages depending on their orientation. Horizontal casements – commonly referred to as awnings – offer the ability to keep windows open in all weather conditions, including rain and snow, for non-stop enjoyment of the outdoors. Traditional casements open sideways to catch and redirect breezes into your home. Both styles offer a sleek, modern design that simultaneously protects against pests and water damage while revitalizing your home’s aesthetic. RiteScreen’s casement screen options are designed to help homeowners get the most out of their unique casement or awning window for many years to come!

Do your casement window screens open vertically or horizontally?
RiteScreen casement screens have vertical and horizontal options! Horizontal options are often referred to as “awnings” and are frequently preferred for their ability to stay open in the rain. If seeking an extruded awning screen, check out our CA3 option! A popular selection for kitchen window screen replacements.

Can casement screens be removed for cleaning and storing in the winter?
They can and should be cleaned and, if possible, stored in the winter when your windows remain closed. Regular cleaning will keep your screens in top shape for years to come, maintaining visual clarity and optimal airflow. RiteScreen’s casement window screens are equipped with two leaf springs for easy installation and removal. Better yet, the aluminum frame and char fiber mesh are easy to clean. What materials are used to make casement window screens?
